What to expect from a free Square Switch beta report and what to check before you choose a plan.
Square Switch is a free beta for comparing Texas electricity plans. You email us a bill, and we send a report based on your usage and plan prices we can find. The report is an estimate, not an offer to supply electricity.
1. Using the beta
Please read these terms and our privacy policy before sending a bill. By emailing a bill to [email protected] for a report, you ask us to use that bill for the beta as described here. If you do not agree, please don't send it. You must be at least 18, and the bill must be yours or sent with the account holder's permission. Our current beta is for homes in the Oncor service area; coverage may change.
2. What we do
We use the bill and available Electricity Facts Labels (EFLs) to estimate what plans at your address would cost over a year of your usage. We aim to show the ranking and important catches, such as bill-credit thresholds, early-exit fees and contract dates. We are not an electricity provider, a utility or the Public Utility Commission of Texas. This beta does not enroll you or switch your service.
3. Estimates, not offers
Reports use past usage and the plan rates available when we prepare them. Future usage, provider prices, taxes and fees can change. We cannot guarantee savings or a particular bill. Before choosing a plan, check the provider's current EFL, contract and other terms directly. The provider's documents control the plan, not our estimate. Your decision to switch, and when to do it, is yours. Reports are information, not legal, financial or other professional advice.
4. Price and possible future commissions
The beta report is free. You need not switch, sign up or provide a card to receive it. Square Switch earns no commissions today. A future service may receive a payment from an electricity provider if a customer enrolls through us, after required registration and other steps. We will disclose those payments before they begin, and they will not change the ranking.
5. Emails and your bill
We'll email your report and answer questions about it. We send contract reminders only if you ask; reply "stop" to stop follow-ups. Our privacy policy explains how the original bill remains in our inbox, what usage facts we keep and how to request access or deletion.
6. Content and responsibility
Your report is yours to keep and share. Square Switch retains its website, name, logo and report design. The beta is provided as is. We work to get the math right, but to the extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for losses from relying on an estimate, including the cost of a plan you choose, an early-exit fee or a provider's later price change.
7. Changes and contact
We may change these terms or end the beta. We will post changes here with a new date; changed terms do not alter reports already sent. These terms are governed by Texas law. Questions: [email protected].
